The Transitions Championship recognizes the efforts that all members of the U.S. Armed Forces provide in defending the United States. As part of our Military Appreciation, we say thank you and would like to welcome you to the Transitions Championship at Innisbrook, a Salamander Golf and Spa Resort March 15-18, 2012 .
The Transitions Championship is a 72-hole official PGA TOUR event that will include week-long activities reinforcing the connection between healthy sight and an overall healthy lifestyle.

After a busy stretch of golf that featured two WGC events in the past three weeks, a lot of stars are taking a break when the Transitions Championship tees off on March 15.

While guys like Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and Phil Mickelson won't be on the golf course, there are still enough big golfers to draw an audience. Luke Donald and reigning Masters champion Charl Schwartzel headline a pretty decent field at the Transitions Championship. With the Masters approaching, this is the time when several golfers can start to build momentum.

Here is a look at some of the top players that will participate in the Traditions Championship:

Donald and Schwartzel are two of the four top 10 golfers playing in the tournament. Webb Simpson and Jason Day are also participating. None of these four golfers have a win so far in 2012. Any of these four golfers can win this event. Of the group, the most pressure might be on Donald. He has lost his No. 1 ranking and hasn't really looked very good so far this year. If he is going to build some steam toward the Masters, he needs to start playing well now.

In addition to the four top 10 players, there are also several major winners in the field. Padraig Harrington, Vijay Singh, and Ernie Els are all three-time major champions. John Daly is also playing in this event. He has two major titles on his resume. David Toms, Stewart Cink, Justin Leonard, and Jim Furyk are also here and will be among the most popular players at the event.

Beyond those stars, some other notable names include Justin Rose, Gary Woodland, K.J. Choi, Paul Casey, and Sergio Garcia. Even without the heavy hitters like Woods and McIlroy, the Transitions Championship should do just fine in terms of viewership. This is the first of three tournaments before the Masters begins. The big players here know that it is crunch time. The first couple of months might have seemed like the preseason. However, now is the time that everyone has to start getting ready for the big events. I expect some solid efforts because of that fact.
